Osamu Dezaki passed away on April 17 due to lung cancer at the age of 67. He is a rather well known director among anime fans for directing various popular Japanese animations such as AIR, Black Jack The Animation, CLANNAD movie, Golgo 13 and many more. A service will be held on April 21 in Tokyo.
Born in 1943 at Tokyo, Japan, Osamu-san made his first debut as a manga artist and joined the Mushi Productions, a studio founded by manga and anime pioneer Osamu Tezuka. The first animation film he directed was Ashita no Joe in 1970. Together wit Masao Murayama, they founded the anime studio – MADHOUSE in 1972.
