Remeber the Next Generation Portable? It is now the Playstation Vita. The official name was announced today at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) held in Los Angeles, USA. What matters alot to the consumers about a console is usually the price and that was announced as well. It will be retailing this holiday (that’s December usually) at a price of US$249 for the Wifi only version. For the 3G+Wifi version, it will be retailing at USD $299.

Sony’s Kazuo Hirai  explains that “Vita”, which means “Life” in Latin, was chosen as the most appropriate name for the next generation portable entertainment system as it enables a revolutionary combination of rich gaming and social connectivity within a real world context.

AT&T is an exclusive partner in the US for the PlayStation Vita. A good number of games were announced/shown for the PSVita at E3 as well
