Yes, generals – not just Pokemon – can evolve in upcoming Nintendo DS simulation RPG, Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition (Nobunaga no Yabou), the latest issue of V-Jump reveals (click for bigger scan).
When a general evolves, not only do they grow stronger in terms of stats, they dress better too. Wear beefier armour. Snazzier daimyo helmets. In general Mitsuhide’s case (he’s on the right page), his traditional blue samurai garb turns into a purple outfit that makes him look… somewhat scholarly.
Or as some Japanese netizens put it:
“The evolved Mitsuhide looks a little gross.”
“Mitsuhide is always gross.”
“Doesn’t Mitsuhide look like a Dynasty Warriors character?”
“Yes, he looks like Zhang He (pictured below).”
Apart from the general evolutions, the article also mentioned that although generals in the game can be paired with many Pokemon, every general only has one Best Link. In Kenshin’s case, this is Mewtwo.
First announced in December last year at Jump Fiesta, Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition takes place in the fictional land of Lanse, where apparently Sengoku generals went about conquering the land by deploying… Pokemon. Instead of visiting gyms and fighting gym leaders, players travel to 17 castles across the land and take on various Sengoku period generals.
Pokemon + Nobunaga no Yabou comes out for the Nintendo DS on March 17 in Japan.
