Capcom’s Sengoku Basara (戦国Basara) series of Dynasty-Warriors-esque hack-and-slash games, set in feudal Japan, is getting a live-action TV drama adaption with Gackt starring as Oda Nobunaga.
Entitled “Sengoku Basara -Moonlight Party-“, the TV adaptation will also star Kohei Takeda as Sanada Yukimura, Kento Hayashi as Date Masamune, and Hidenori Tokuyama as Katakura Kojuro.

This is not the first time the Sengoku Basara series has been adapted into another media format. In 2009 and 2010, Production I.G produced two seasons of a Sengoku Basara anime adaptation (“Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings” in the West), as well as an animated feature film in 2011 (Gekijouban: Sengoku Basara -The Last Party-).
The series has also been adapted for live theatre in the past.
Sengoku Basara -Moonlight Party- will air on MBS in Japan every Thursday at 1.25AM (Wednesday late-night 25:25 hours) starting July 12.
