Eh? Hatsune Miku’s going to be featured in Kyoto Animation’s Hyouka TV anime series? As Konata Izumi from Lucky Star (another KyoAni production) would say, “dondake?!”

The official website for Hyouka was updated earlier today.

Go over to the site and you’ll find, among other things, a new piece of artwork (right), synopses for episodes 12 through 14, staff commentary on episode 10 and – curiously enough – illustrations for four characters from the “Mankenbu” (Manga Studies Club) cosplaying as Vocaloids Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Len, Kagamine Rin, and Megurine Luka.

It’s not mentioned specifically which episode these characters will appear in – or if they’ll actually appear in the show (a point SGCafe reader asdisc brings up in the comments below).

But our guess is that since today’s update covers content that will appear in the anime series from episodes 11 to 14, chances are these Mankenbu characters will appear in one of those episodes.

The Hyouka anime series (氷菓, which literally means “frozen treat”), produced by Kyoto Animation and directed by Yasuhiro Takemoto, is based on a mystery novel by Honobu Yonezawa about four high school students who belong to the Classic Literature Club (kotenbu) in their school. The anime series began airing in Japan from January 26 of this year, and will feature a total of 21 episodes, 10 of which have already aired.
