The official Persona publicity blog announced today that Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (also known as “Persona 4 Arena” in the West), due to be released in Japan and Asia this Thursday, will be adapted into a manga series and serialised in Persona Magazine, beginning with issue #10.
This adaptation is a straight-up “comicalization”, which is industry lingo for “the comic or manga series will follow after the story as detailed in the original work” which, in this case, would refer to the 30 to 40-hour long story mode in Persona 4 Arena.
Although both the game and manga series will essentially be telling the same story, Atlus says that the manga series will render the story’s intense moments with a sense of action that’s only possible in manga format.
Aiya Kyuu, the manga artist and author for Monthly Comic Gene’s Antimagia, will illustrate the P4U manga series.
Persona Magazine #10, published by Dengeki, will go on sale in Japan August 10 for 840 yen.
Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena the game (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360) comes out in Japan and Asia on July 26, this Thursday, and is due to be released in the US August 7.
