Still on the fence on Level 5’s genre-less PS Vita game, Time Travelers (also on 3DS and PSP)?
No worries. In less than 48 hours’ time (or whatever amount still remaining on the countdown timer at this website), you’ll be able to “experience” Time Traveler’s world for yourself, courtesy of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan and Scrap, the company that organises Real Escape Games in Japan (the puzzles in Singapore’s Real Escape Game events were also designed by Scrap).
Sony is giving Level 5’s genre-less PS Vita game, Time Travelers (also on 3DS and PSP) a big promotional push in the form of a browser-based mini-game – not unlike Crimson Room and point-and-click Flash games of a similar nature – that’s set in the game’s universe.
In the browser-based game, a certain “Teito University” is recruiting scientific researchers. As a candidate for the job, you’ll interact with characters from Time Travelers, and attempt to solve a number of mysteries or puzzles put forth to you. Will you be able to solve them all?
From the pool of players who successfully solve all the puzzles, Sony will pick out one winner at random to receive a 1,000,000 yen (950,000 yen after tax; approx. S$16,000), which is mighty generous of them. Especially for a game that will be appearing on the 3DS as well.
Note: Chances are, you’ll actually need to be a Japanese citizen with a legitimate address to claim your prize if you’re lucky enough to be the one chosen. Nevertheless, if you’re even mildly interested in Time Travelers, do check out the browser-based game portal two days from now, when it’s ready.
Time Travelers comes out for the PS Vita and 3DS in Japan on July 12. A PSP version is also slated for July 19.
