Gust, makers of the Atelier series of JRPGs, today put out a screenshot blast for Atelier Totori Plus (トトリのアトリエ Plus ～アーランドの錬金術士 2～), a port of the PS3 JRPG to the PS Vita with additional content. The game comes out in a little over two weeks’ time.
So what’s new in Atelier Totori Plus? For starters, this Vita port will come with the original PS3 JRPG’s three DLC characters packed in (hear that, Vanillaware?), so that you can include them in your party right from the get-go.
PS3 Atelier Totori DLC characters
Prior to the DLC release for the PS3 version, these three characters played support roles.
From top to bottom, the three characters are: owner of the Sunrise Cafe Iksel Jahnn (Iksy), Totori’s older sister Cecilia Helmond (Ceci), and guild receptionist Cordelia von Feuerbach who is equipped with a rifle in combat.
Extra dungeon: “Orthogalaxen” from Atelier Rorona
Orthogalaxen is the very last dungeon that you can unlock in Atelier Rorona (PS3), a direct prequel to Atelier Totori.
Although not originally included in the PS3 version of Totori, Orthogalaxen is making a return in Totori Plus, and will challenge the best Atelier players with a throng of boss enemies as well as souped-up versions of regular enemies. Not only that, but defeating foes will will reward players with materials and ingredients of the highest grade.
New costumes and accessories for Totori
Gamers who pre-order a first-print edition of Atelier Totori Plus will receive two bonus costumes: Devil Bikini and Angel Swimwear (小悪魔のビキニ, 天使の水着). These costumes will stay on Totori during battle, movement, and even event scenes.
Extra mode: Illustration Gallery
Atelier Totori Plus will feature a new illustration gallery mode (under the “Extra” menu) where you can go to character designer Mel Kishida’s 2D illustrations for the game.
The Extra menu is also where you go to change costumes for Totori. In this mode you’ll be able to spin the character model around and zoom in and out.
Other tweaks made to Atelier Totori Plus include navigating through menus by tapping on the Vita’s touchscreen, using the right analog stick to control the camera’s zoom, and a fast message scroll speed for event scenes you’ve already seen.
Atelier Totori Plus (トトリのアトリエ Plus ～アーランドの錬金術士 2～) for the PlayStation Vita comes out in Japan November 29.
An English version of the game has yet to be announced, but all three Atelier games under the “Alchemist of Arland” story arc (Atelier Meruru, Atelier Rorona, Atelier Totori) have been released in English on the PS3.
Gust’s latest Atelier JRPG on the PS3, Atelier Ayesha, was releaesed June 28 in Japan.
