The second of ten weekly “Spartan Ops” co-op campaign episodes is now live on Halo 4. Go frag some nasty Prometheans with your fellow Spartans tonight.

Entitled “Artifact”, Spartan Ops Episode 2 consists of five new missions that follow up on the brief cliffhanger that developer 343 Industries dropped on Halo 4 players in the fifth and final mission of Episode 1, which came with the game at launch.

To further whet your appetite for Episode 2, they’ve also put out a brief teaser trailer on what’s going to happen in this week’s content. Do note, however, that as the Spartan Ops takes place after the events of Halo 4’s single-player campaign, if you have not finished the game you might potentially be treading into spoiler territory.

The entire Spartan Ops campaign will ultimate comprises 50 missions when all is said and done. This mode replaces the “Firefight” arcade-style mode of play in previous Halo games (Reach and ODST), and although the premise is fairly similar – in both modes you team up with a party of up to four players and fend off against waves of AI enemies – the biggest difference between the two is that Spartan Ops is linked to Halo 4’s canon, and offers a narrative for fans to get absorbed in well after they finished the single-player campaign.

Halo 4 for the Xbox 360 is out now, available at all good video game retailers.
