Gen Urobuchi, the scriptwriter behind anime smash hits Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Fate/Zero, is working on a new TV anime series that will premiere sometime in April next year.
Entitled Suisei no Gargantia, the original sci-fi adventure anime series will be produced by studio Production I.G (Blood-C, Kuroko’s Basketball), and directed by Kazuya Murata (Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos movie)
Character designs in Gargantia are done by Shoujo Material‘s manga artist Hanaharu Naruko, and the mechanical or mecha designs are by Makoto Ishiwata (Robotics;Notes).
Musical compositions featured in the series will be scored by Taro Iwashiro, who also did the scores for Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos.
The story in Suisei no Gargantia is set in a futuristic universe where humanities struggle in a war for survival against monstrous lifeforms known as the Hideous.
In the midst of a battle against the Hideous, teenage soldier Redo was sucked into a time-space distortion along with the mecha Chainbar, and was put into cryogenic hibernation.
When Redo awakes from his hibernation, he finds himself on some strange planet on the forgotten borders of the galaxy
