Ragnarok Odyssey was a hit on the PS Vita, with its expansive gameplay and intense battle system. Now, GungHo Online Entertainment is making an enhanced version for newcomers and veterans alike.

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace will include all of the content and downloadable quests from the first game, as well as an extra episode set after the original story. Additions to the gameplay include miracle weapons that evolve as you use them, the never-ending World Tree Tower, downloadable quests released every day, and ACE skills that drastically change how each class fights. Those of you who own the first game will be able to transfer save data, so you won’t need to start over from scratch.

Based on Norse mythology, Ragnarok Odyssey is set in a world in which humans wage war against giants after the fall of the gods. Like in many RPGs, you can customize your character and choose from several jobs, and with the Vita’s wireless capabilities, you can play co-op with up to three of your friends either online or ad-hoc.

Ragnarok Odyssey Ace will be released in Japan on July 11, and there are already plans to release the game overseas, as well as develop a PS3 version. The game will also have text available in Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and English, which is good for those of you who like to import early.

Here are some of the new weapons and accessories that will be available:

In addition, there will be some new cards that grant you special skills:

Lastly, you can take a look at these illustrations of the character classes. They look better than ever before, while staying true to their forms from the previous game — except maybe the assassin class, who ditched their armor and adopted a punk rock vibe.

If you’re a fan of the original Ragnarok Odyssey, it looks like there will be plenty of reasons to pick up Ace as well. If you’ve never played Ragnarok Odyssey and you’re a fan of epic-scale, multiplayer RPGs, why not give this a try?
