The most famous people throughout the history of the world have transformed into weapons to fight in this stylish, new battle anime.
The latest issue of Comic Earth Star has announced that an anime adaptation of Masato Hisa’s battle action manga Nobunagun is in production.
Nobunagun is centered around a girl named Shio Ogura who is an E-Gene holder, a warrior who has the power to summon a historical figure in the form of a weapon. Shio’s historical figure is one of the most important warlords in Japanese history, Oda Nobunaga — who is now a machine gun. As a member of the organization DOGOO, Shio works to protect the world from monsters called “Evolved Invaders” alongside other E-Gene holders with their own historical figures/weapons, such as Jack the Ripper (a huge sword) and Mahatma Gandhi (a barrier).
Masato Hisa first debuted as a manga artist in 2003 with his series Grateful Dead, and started drawing Nobunagun in 2011. If you pick up the latest issue of Comic Earth Star, you can also read an interview with him regarding the anime and his tenth anniversary as a manga artist. It also includes a manga about the five most important events in Hisa’s career.
No further details on the anime have been announced, but if you want to see more of the manga, you can read the first chapter on Comic Earth Star’s website.
Also, in case you’re wondering, the story includes Isaac Newton, Alfred Nobel, W.A. Mozart, Christopher Columbus, Babe Ruth, and more historical figures. Who do you want to see?
