Arc System Works has just announced Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- (“Xrd” is pronounced “Ixard”, a portmanteau of the words “Ixa” and “Third”), a brand new fighting game in the Guilty Gear series, at the closing of their Arc Fes 2013 event.
The game will be rendered in 3D polygon models rather than 2D sprites, and is powered by the Unreal Engine.
No platforms have been announced yet, but judging by a “All.net P-ras Multi” logo that can be seen at the end of the trailer when some of the production credits are shown, the new fighting game will likely hit the arcades first. Guilty Gear Xrd is currently in development as an arcade title, and will run on Sega’s RingEdge 2 arcade system board with support for the “ALL.Net P-ras MULTI Version 2” network data saving system.

Along with the game’s announcement, an official website for Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign- has also went live. At the moment there’s nothing on the site yet, except links to the game’s debut trailer on YouTube and Nico Nico Douga.
