Part of the cast for a live-action stage adaptation of 5pb and Nitroplus’s smash hit visual novel slash anime series, Steins;Gate, has been announced.
Steins;Gate’s lead character, Rintarou Okabe will be played by actor Daisuke Watanabe (pictured left), who played Kunimitsu Tezuka in The Prince of Tennis musical.
“Part-time soldier” Suzuha Amane will be played by Minami Tsukui (pictured center), who was Dragon Kid in last year’s live-action stage production of Sunrise’s Tiger & Bunny, and Chie for the stage adaptation of Atlus’s Persona 4.
The third and final cast member that’s being announced this week is the actress for “Shining Finger” Moeka Kiryuu. The character will be played by model and actress Yumi Sugitomi (Go-On Silver or Miu Sutou in Engine Sentai Go-Onger).
This is but the first of several cast announcements that will be made for what’s being officially called Living Adv「Steins;Gate(シュタインズ・ゲート).
Why’s it a “Living Adventure”? Because the stage production will actually consist of six different stories, all of which are different timelines or scenarios that branch off from the same beginning, in an attempt to mimic the tough decisions that the player is often forced to make in the original visual novel.
The stage production will play at Zepp Diver City from October 12 to 20, 2013, for a total of 13 shows.
So which version of the stage production will play on a particular day? That will depend on members who’ve registered themselves for the show’s free e-mail newsletter, D-mail, who will vote on the version being played on each day.
At the moment, the versions for six of 13 shows have been decided. To find out which version is playing on which day, head over to the stage production’s official website.
