Fans of Naoshi Komi’s manga Nisekoi have a lot to be excited about. Just as we predicted after Shueisha Inc purchased Nisekoi’s domain, the series is getting an anime.

On top of that, it has been announced that Nisekoi: Urbana, a novelized version of the manga, will be released on June 4. You don’t need to look any further than the novel’s cover to see that plenty of exciting surprises are tucked inside this volume, thanks to the imaginative writing of Hajime Tanaka. In the novel, a mysterious virus causes Onodera Kosaki to sprout— you guessed it —cat ears.

That’s not the only eye-opener. In Nisekoi: Urbana, Kirisaki Chitoge wears a kimono, and Marika Tachibana— the daughter of a police chief —has become a killer-for-hire. If you need to see it to believe it, don’t worry. Komi has graciously included plenty of illustrations, drawn specifically for this volume.

To commemorate the novel’s release, Shonen Jump’s official website has been posting photos of a cat-eared Onodera figurine in a series called “Today’s Neko-Dera.” If you head over to the site, you can check out this adorable chibi-style figurine (which comes with its own supporting stand) for yourself. You can even sneak a peek at some of the preliminary artwork for the novel’s illustrations.
