Filming for Kuroshitsuji, the live action film version of Yana Toboso’s popular manga, has finally been completed. Hiro Mizushima, who will be performing as Sebastian, expressed his belief that the film will showcase all the hard work he put into the project. If the completion of filming isn’t thrilling enough, I suggest you take a look at some of the pictures that have just been released.
Photography for Kuroshitsuji was taken at all locations, including places like Kitakyushu city, Yamaguchi prefecture, and the Kyushu region. It began April 1, and continued until about mid-March. Before photography for Kuroshitsuji began, Mizushima decided to lose weight until he hit a svelte 50 kg. To make sure he looked sharp.
Mizushima also devoted about 4 months of practice to the action sequences. Sound rough? Apparently, it was. Mizushima compared the satisfaction of safely completing the photography period to the feeling of reaching a mountaintop after an intense climb.
According to Ayame Goriki, who will be playing Sebastian’s master (Shiori Genpo), Mizushima’s performance is flawless. She described Mizushima as the true leading man, praising his action sequences as highlights of the movie.
Kuroshitsuji tells an original story, set in the year 2020. Don’t let the future setting fool you, though. The original work’s 19th century atmosphere will be preserved with the help of everything from antique furniture, chandeliers, and ridiculously classy tableware to specially-designed costumes for Mizushima.
