Last Wednesday, June 5, marked the end of the glorious career of beloved voice actor Takkou Ishimori. At the good age of 81, Takkou passed away. The news reached the rest of the world when fellow voice actor, Nobuyuki Kobushi (Lucky Star, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) tweeted “I really… wanted to act more and more together, and I wanted to learn a lot more from him…”
Most recently, Takkou Ishimori was best known for his role as Sengoku from One Piece. However, this amazing man has brought magic to the lives of many people through his myriad other roles. You may recognize him as King Xerxes in Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Yoshimune in Buzzer Beater. Outside of anime, Takkou played the jovial sorting hat in the hit movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Bashful in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, and Ranzo Fujibayashi in Tales of Phantasia.
Takkou had been with the talent agency Arts Vision ever since his debut in 1960, and was a founding member of Theater Echo. If you click here, you can see Takkou’s personal profile on Arts Vision’s website and hear his voice again as he introduces himself.
Takkou Ishimori, I say on behalf of everyone who has ever been a fan of your work, rest in peace.
