Shounen Jump!‘s 45th anniversary fighting game J-stars Victory VS will have you pit Weekly Shounen Jump!‘s greatest heroes against one another. Think of it as ‘Injustice: Gods Among Us‘ with Jump! characters. With Naruto, Goku, Toriko, Luffy and the recently announced Ichigo and Kenshin in the line-up, the game looks very promising.
Now, thanks to some recent scans from V Jump magazine, some game play aspects from the new game which includes a 2-vs-2 tag battle mode are now revealed. The scan also shows some of the fighting game’s tag mechanics.
1) The 2-vs-2 tag battle is pretty much your basic tag battle where you control one team and your opponent controls another. Each team also has a support character providing assistance to your main team.
2) When one of the two characters is defeated, the player controlling them is going to be at a major disadvantage as it will become a 2-on-1 battle.
3) Your team decides the tactics and you can launch combination attacks as well as super attacks by your two characters plus the support like the one shown in the scan; A reversed-edge katana attack by Kenshin followed by Goku’s Kamehameha and then is topped off by Naruto’s Rasenshuriken.
4) A player achieves victory if his energy bar is filled. The energy bar has three segments and each time you defeat your opponent, a segment lights up. You achieve victory once you defeat your opponent thrice and fill your energy bar.
J Stars Victory VS will be released for the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita platforms, however, no release date has been revealed as of the moment.
