Are you excited for the next season of Genshiken? If so, you should see this new trailer, plus a video of the voice actress Sumire Uesaka singing the peppy opening theme.
The story of Genshiken Nidaime is centered around “The Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture” (“Genshiken” for short), which is essentially a group of college otaku. The anime continues from the second season of Genshiken from 2007 by introducing a few new members, whom you can see in the trailer below.
Along with the trailer, King Records has revealed a short music video for the opening theme, Genshi, Joshi wa, Taiyou Datta, performed by Sumire Uesaka, who also voices Rika Yoshitake.
Anime fans should recognize Sumire Uesaka as the voice behind Sora from PapaKiki and Dekomori fom ChuuKoi. Recently, she began her singing career with the opening single of Namiuchigiwa no Muromi-san.
In this preview of Uesaka’s music video, you get to see her singing and dancing accompanied by Kabuki Rocks, a rock band that formed in the late 1980’s. As their name implies, they’re dressed like kabuki actors, one of whom beats a wooden drum at strange intervals.
Genshiken Nidaime will start airing on July 6, while the single will be released on July 10 and also come in a limited edition that includes a DVD with the full music video and a postcard drawn by Uesaka herself. Uesaka will also perform at this year’s Animelo Summer Live, so her singing career is sure to grow from here.
