Square Enix’s Motomu Toriyama and Shinji Hashimoto were here in Singapore yesterday for a Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Creators Event, organised by Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong (SCEH) as the last leg of an Asia tour to promote the game.

SGCafe is proud to have been the exclusive official media partner for this event.

A total of 100 Final Fantasy fans in Singapore were invited to attend the Creators Event, held at District One at St. James Power Station, through a joint fan recruitment drive on the SGCafe.Cosplay and PlayStation Asia Facebook fan pages (50 on each side).

Amongst the 100 fans invited, over a dozen showed up in Final Fantasy cosplay (more pictures in the gallery at the end of this post).

The night kicked off with a few words from the event’s guests-of-honour, Shinji Hashimoto and Motomu Toriyama, on their thoughts coming to Singapore.

Fans were then treated to presentations on Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, as well as Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, the latter of which Hashimoto announced would be released in Asia on February 27 (Japanese voices with Chinese/Korean subtitles) and March 18 (English voices and subtitles).

Hashimoto also pointed out that the cover artwork for the Asian English version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster would be different from that of the North American release.

After the presentations, there was also a brief Q-and-A segment where Hashimoto and Toriyama answered fan questions submitted prior to the event, and a lucky draw.

Finally, the night capped up with an autograph session for the fans.

Our thanks to SCEH for organising this wonderful event for the fans here in Singapore. We hope everyone had a good time last night.

Prior to the Creators Event, SGCafe also got to ask Motomu Toriyama and Shinji Hashimoto a couple of questions regarding Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster.

Stay tuned to SGCafe for the transcript of that interview.
