decapre character select

The fifth new character in Ultra Street Fighter IV is Decapre, a Shadowloo assassin doll and former comrade of Cammy’s back when she was still brainwashed and under the command of M.Bison, Capcom announced moments ago at the Final Round 17 tournament in Atlanta, USA.

Decapre looks like a twin of Cammy’s, but has her face hidden behind a mask. In the reveal trailer for the character, it is revealed that Caitlin Glass, the English language voice actress for Cammy in the game, will voice Decapre. Which means there is a strong likelihood that her Japanese counterpart, Miyuki Sawashiro, will also voice the new character.

Here is the first character trailer and screenshots for Decapre, as well as an exhibition match between Capcom’s Peter “Combofiend” Rosas and European pro gamer Ryan Hart at Final Round 17:

With regards to her play style, Decapre is said to be a “charged” character — the commands required to perform her special moves requires the player to hold a direction (either back, or down) for about a second, before hitting the opposite direction and an attack button. This is as opposed to the quarter-circle and dragon-punch motions required to perform Cammy’s special moves.

Although Decapre possesses a lot of the moves that Cammy does, she also has some cool new tricks of her own, including an aerial Cannon Drill, and teleport attacks.

An exclusive, deeper look at Decapre’s fighting style with commentary from Capcom’s Peter “Combofiend” Rosas is available from IGN:

Did the fifth character’s identity surprise you?

Back in January at the Taipei Game Show, Capcom’s Yoshinori Ono said that only about four people on the Interwebs guessed her identity correctly. Although in reality, quite a number of Street Fighter fans thought that Decapre was highly probably given the hints that Capcom had rolled out over the course of several months last year.

Ultra Street Fighter IV is slated for release in June for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. It will also come to the PC in August.
