On March 6, 1999, an anime classic was made and it later became a worldwide sensation. That anime is known as Digimon Adventure and as the series celebrates its 15th anniversary, Toei Animation , which produced the series, opened a new official website just for the historic landmark event.

The website also announced a 15th Anniversary memorial event for all the digifans out there and the event will be held on August 1, 2014 at Odaiba. A countdown to that memorial event is also featured in the new website.

Koji Wada, whose debut single Butter-fly became the anime’s theme will also make an appearance during the event. The Digimon Adventure OP song is still considered by Anisong fans as one of the greatest anime OP songs in history.

Now did that song right there hit you in the childhood?

The anime, which began March 1999 was shown in over 60 countries all over the world before hitting North America in August of the same year where it became a huge hit, so big that it became Pokemon’s instant rival.

Toei Animation seems to be rather excited about the event itself. Would there be any announcements during the event? Will there be a new Digimon series? Will Koji Wada perform? Or will there be another new Digimon video game? That and more will be answered on August 1.
