We have seen how fans celebrated the birthday of the self-proclaimed “Greatest Idol in the World”, Nico Yazawa in style. The otaku capital of Akihabara however took it even further for Love Live!‘s lovable school idol as the area turned into one Nico Festival yesterday, July 22, 2014. Nico-Nico-Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
The other members of μ’s took the back seat as Nico showed how being an idol is really done as she took over one iconic Akihabara landmark all by herself – Animate.
The birthday girl was everywhere in Animate Akihabara, including the stairs!
Fans even got to wite her a special birthday message, ain’t that just nice? Nico must be truly happy.
Let’s just say Animate just went Nico-crazy yesterday
Alas, Nico would not go unchallenged as straitlaced-Umi finally stepped up to the plate to challenge her. Umi, who is named after the Ocean (which is Umi in Japanese), had her Umi Day (Marine Day, which is a national holiday in Japan) celebrations last July 21, and was quite the contender.
However, the day may have belonged to Nico as she has not only taken over Animate, but also other parts of Akihabara like Asobit City.
Even Gee! Store was not spared of Nico Yazawa’s birthday takeover.
Club Sega Akihabara, Tora no Ana, and Gamers also celebrated Nico’s birthday, though in Gamers, Umi also put up quite a fight.
There’s just no stopping Nico Yazawa huh? When it’s her birthday, she really celebrates it in the grandest way possible and as you have just saw, even Akihabara was not spared as she made sure everybody knows that it is her birthday… Nico-Nico-Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!
