During the Japan Gamer’s Live event held over the Tokyo Big Sight last August 30, 2014, Sega announced that Virtua Fighter‘s Akira Yuuki, who served as the final boss for the Dengeki Bunko light novel cross-over fighting game, Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax, will be joining the game’s console port for the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita as a playable character.

Akira will be taking on the likes of Durarara!!’s Shizuo, Sword Art Online’s Kirito and Asuna, OreImo’s Kirino, Toradora’s Taiga, The Irregular at Magic High School’s Miyuki, Black Bullet’s Rentaro, A Certain Series’ Mikoto, and many many more. Whether he retains his status as a boss character for the home version has not been revealed thus far.

Also joining Akira is Pai Chan, also from Virtua Fighter. She acted as Akira’s support character in the boss stage, and she will also be available as a support character for the home version, joining Hataraku Maou-sama!’s Sadao, A Certain series’ Touma, Sword Art Online’s Leafa, and many many more.

The event also held a Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax arcade tournament where the finals battle featured an all-out brawl between Shakugan no Shana’s Shana and Strike the Blood’s Yukina Himeragi.

One of the Cosplayers, Kuroyukihime cosplayer Nagisa-san, even showed her skills in playing the game… and yes, those are dudes cosplaying Mikoto and Shana. Oh, and the Shana cosplayer, Asami, won.

The upcoming console port’s exact release date will be on November 13, 2014 for the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita. The game will feature all the characters released so far, including the latest additions which are Black Bullet’s Rentaro Satomi and Enju Aihara, as well as Strike The Blood’s Yukina Himeragi and Kujou Akatsuki.
