Cosplayers and itashas gather in a driving school in Gunma
Itashas, which literally mean “Pain Cars” have become one of the most popular hobbies associated with Japan’s otaku subculture, and the Kabura Driving School in Fujioka City, Gunma prefecture has recently gathered several cosplayers and itashas in an event dubbed “Kabu Ita Vol. 1”, which aims to gather itasha enthusiasts as well as cosplayers from all over the prefecture.
Approximately 60 itashas made their way to the Kabura Driving School grounds as owners proudly displayed their anime-themed custom cars which were most certainly the stars of the event. Cars, vans, mini-vans, SUV’s and others were all present for the event, and all of them featured custom decals inspired by anime, manga, video game, and vocaloid characters like OreImo’s Kuroneko, Squid Girl,Hatsune Miku, Black Rock Shooter, and many more.
One van in particular has gotten a lot of attention and shows just how dedicated these itasha owners are. Come on, just look at that interior, you’ll know that these people worked very hard for their prized itashas.
And a lot of money must have been spent on this Squid Girl sports car
But of course, the cars aren’t the only ones present.
Cosplayers from the classic police anime, You’re Under Arrest, meanwhile showed off some police vehicles for the event.
And finally, one of the event’s highlights are the cosplayers who showed up along with the itashas, and look, that Nagisa cosplayer can even fire her character’s bubble trumpet, awwwww…
