The new Fall 2014 anime season feature some pretty big names in its roster, and with the release of Sony’s initial Tornado Rankings for the season, we can now get a good idea on which anime is being watched (or in this case, recorded) the most in Japan.

The rankings are based on which anime is recorded the most using Sony’s Torne app for the PC, PlayStation 3, 4, and Vita through the services of the PlayStation Network. Without further ado, here are the Top 20 anime from Sony’s Initial Tornado Rankings for the new Fall 2014 anime season:

20) World Trigger

19) Akatsuki no Yona

18) Amagi Brilliant Park

17) The Wolf Girl and the Black Prince

16) Terraformars

15) A Good Librarian Like a Good Shepherd

14) Trinity Seven

13) Gogure Kokkuri-san

12) Lord Marksman and Vanadis

11) Le Fruit de la Grisaia

10) Your Lie in April

9) Cross Ange

8) In Search of Lost Future

6) Denkigai no Honya-san

5) Sora no Method

3) Psycho-Pass 2

2) Fate/ Stay Night: Unlimited Bladeworks (2014)

1) Gundam Reconguista in G

According to Sony, the most recorded anime using their Torne device is none other than Gundam Reconguista in G which ironically drew mixed reactions from fans outside of Japan. The anime is one of the most hyped series which premiered this season, and with good reason as it is Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino’s return to the franchise. Mixed reactions aside, the new Gundam anime has gotten quite the following back in Japan and as these rankings have shown, it has gotten quite the reception.

#2 ranked Fate/ Stay Night meanwhile is one of the most hyped titles this season, and is constantly battling for the top spot in anime expectations rankings along with #3 ranked Psycho-Pass 2. Sadly, both favorites failed to get the top spot in this one.

#7 ranked When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace meanwhile became the center of attention for many anime fans as the anime became the source for the now-famous “Pregnancy Test Memes” while #9 ranked Cross Ange raised a lot of eyebrows for its infamous “Copy-Paste OP” which seems to have been taken from Gundam SEED.

Several other surprises were presented in the rankings as comedy anime Denkigai no Honya-san and school life anime In Search of Lost Future have made it to the top 10, while three of this season’s most highly hyped anime, Amagi Brilliant Park, Terra Formars, and World Trigger, did not even make the Top 15.
