The first month of any anime season is one of the most important, as this is when fans mostly decide whether to keep watching or drop a new anime. Sony has unveiled their Tornado anime rankings for October, which is the first month of the new Fall 2014 anime  season.

The Sony Tornado Rankings are based on which anime were recorded the most using Sony’s Torne app for the PlayStation 3, 4, Vita and PC from the period of September 29 – November 2, 2014. It used data gathered from the over 10 million Torne users who record anime every week. Here are the Top 20:

20) Akame Ga Kill!

19) A Good Librarian Like a Good Shepherd

18) In Search of the Lost Future

17) Gugure!! Kokkuri-san

16) Le Fruit de la Grisaia

15) Trinity Seven

14) Lord Marksman and Vanadis

13) Denki-gai no Honya-san

12) Cross-Ange

11) Sora no Method

10) Your Lie in April

9) When Supernatural Battles Became Commonplace

8) Amagi Brilliant Park

7) Terraformars

6) Sword Art Online II

5) Psycho-Pass 2

4) Seven Deadly Sins

3) Fate/ Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works (2014)

2) Gundam Reconguista in G

1) Parasyte

Sword Art Online 2, Fate/ Stay Night, Psycho-Pass 2, and Seven Deadly Sins may be the most popular titles of Fall 2014, however, according to Sony, Parasyte is the most recorded using their Torne device so far. Its violent and bloody scenes has given it a late night schedule which may have led to many people recording it instead of watching it live.

Gugure!! Kokkuri-san, which made plenty of upsets in other rankings only made it to #17, while this season’s four mainstays, Sword Art Online 2, Fate/ Stay Night, Psycho-Pass 2, and Seven Deadly Sins have all made it to the Top 10, mainly because many of them also premiere late at night. Who knows, maybe the reason why these titles did not do as well as the other rankings is because many people may have wanted to watch them live on TV instead.

The new Gundam series, G-Reco, meanwhile is also going strong and has once again made it to the Top 5, while other favorites, Amagi Brilliant Park and Your Lie in April, have made it to the bottom half of the Top 10. Akame Ga Kill!, which also has a late night showing because of its bloody and violent scenes, surprisingly only gets 20th place and barely makes it to these rankings.

A few fan favorites like Rage of Bahamut: Genesis, Chaika: The Avenging Battle, Selector Spread Wixoss, and Gundam Build Fighters Try have also failed to make it in this list
