A new note about the rules and regulations in Comiket 87‘s cosplay area has recently been posted and it served as a stern warning about “Surround Photography” in which photographers surround a cosplayer in order to get perverted or low-angle shots.
The new sign aims to impose stricter rules and regulations in Comiket’s cosplay area to further protect the cosplayers. This was all because of the incident from day one of Comiket 86 last August where the Japanese public was disgusted at some otaku photographers who surrounded one Shimakaze cosplayer to take some low-angle shots of her.
The move by the Comiket staff to further impose stricter rules was met with much praise from the Japanese public who were really put-off by the actions of the photographers.
Winter Comic Market 2014 or Comiket 87 will be held from December 28 – 30, 2014, in its traditional home, which is the Tokyo Big Sight.
