Original Gundam mecha designer, Kunio Okawara, Build Fighters Try voice cast, coming to Singapore for Gundam Docks
With 6-meter Gundam and Char’s Zaku II statues coming to Singapore for Gundam Docks in Singapore, Singaporean Gundam fans have definitely have a lot to be happy about, and they are about to become happier.
The special guests for the event have finally been announced, and the biggest one may be the legendary anime mecha designer, Kunio Okawara, who not only designed the original RX-78-2 Gundam, but many other mechas in the franchise, as well as other unforgettable machines from other mecha anime like Armored Trooper Votoms. Okawara will make a stage appearance at a stage event on June 6, 2015.
Also coming to Singapore are the members of the J-rock band, Back-On!which performed the OP songs for both Gundam Build Fighters and Gundam Build Fighters Try. They are comprised of Kenji03 on vocals and guitar, Shu on guitar, Teeda as MC and Gori on bass. This will be the band’s first time appearing in Singapore, and they will meet fans this June 20, 2015.
Finally, a trio of voice actors from Gundam Build Fighters Try will be rounding out the special guest list and they will be appearing along with Back-On this June 20. They are Kazumi Togashi (who voices Sekai Kamiki), Yuuma Uchida (Yuuma Kousaka) and Yui Makino (Fumina Hoshino).
This will be the first time a Gundam Docks event is happening in Singapore, and it will be happening at Takashimaya Department Store B2 and at Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza from June 4 – 28, 2015. The exhibition will feature 1/3 scale models of the RX-78-2 Gundam and Char’s Zaku II, which will measure in at 6m. Thought it ain’t as big as the 18m 1/1 scale Gundam in Odaiba, these things are also pretty massive. And you know what the best part of it all is? It’s all free!
Takayoshi Oyama, Bandai Namco Singapore’s Hobby Products Dept Manager, has said that this event will be “the biggest Gundam exhibition and showcase outside Japan”, and it will not only showcase the 1/3 scale mobile suits, but also several Zaku models, limited-edition GunPla, GunPla Expo merchandise, and many more. And speaking of exclusive merchandise, they will be distributing “Gundam Docks in Singapore Versions” of the RG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam and the Char’s Zaku II
Gundam Docks at Singapore is a celebration of the 35th anniversary of Gundam and also celebrates the 50th anniversary of the founding of Singapore, which means that the event is all the more special.
