We all have those series that have been dragging out for so long that we grew tired of them and stopped following them. The same can be said for mangas, as series like One Piece and Naruto have dragged on for more than a decade, and yes, Bleach is still ongoing as well.

The Japanese media website, MyNavi Student, has recently asked readers to vote for which mangas they dropped because it was already dragging out for too long. The poll gathered 500 votes, and here’s what they had to say:

10 – Kindaichi Case Files by Youzaburou Kanari, Seimaru Amagi, and Fumiya Satou.

9 – Gintama by Hideaki Sorachi

8/7 tie – Kimi ni Todoke by Karuho Shiina

8/7 tie -Glass Mask by Suzue Miuchi

6 – Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto

5 – Oishinbo: A la Carte by Tetsu Kariya and Akira Hanasaki

4 – Hunter x Hunter by Yoshihiro Togashi

3 – Kochikame by Osamu Akimoto

2 – One Piece by Eiichiro Oda

1 – Detective Conan by Gosho Aoyama

According to some fans who used to follow #1 ranked Detective Conan, they would rather follow the anime rather than the manga, while some of the fans who voted for Naruto and One Piece have mentioned the usual reason behind people dropping many long-running shounen manga, and that is the fact that they have dragged on for too long.

And then there is Hunter x Hunter, which has been plagued by frequent hiatuses thanks to its “sickly” mangaka, Yoshihiro Togashi, who seems to be “suffering” from back aches in this latest hiatus. And yes, the manga is still listed as “ongoing”.

The poll also included a few honorable mentions such as Attack on Titan, Hajime no Ippo, Golgo 13, and Yu-Gi-Oh!. The poll however did not have Bleach, which is still ongoing. This fact may surprise many fans, who may have thought that the anime ended with Aizen’s defeat. Well, maybe that’s why Bleach isn’t in the list though…
