The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards, or the Eisner Awards, are considered the most prestigious prizes in the comic book industry, and after the nomination of legendary Japanese mangaka, Rumiko Takahashi (InuYasha, Ranma 1/2) for the Eisner Hall of Fame, several Japanese manga were nominated for the Best U.S. Edition of International Material—Asia award, and they are:

Assassination Classroom by Yusei Matsui


A Bride’s Story by Kaoru Mori


Master Keaton by Hokusei Katushika, Takashi Nagasaki, and Naoki Urasawa


Showa 1953-1989: A History of Japan by Shigeru Mizuki


A Silent Voice by Yoshitoki Ooima


Sunny by Taiyo Matsumoto


Aside from Rumiko Takahashi and the manga titles mentioned above, there were other Japanese nominees, including  “Boys Love Manga and Beyond: History, Culture, and Community in Japan” was nominated for the Best Academic/Scholarly Work category. The winners will be revealed during the San Diego Comic-Con on July 22, 2016.
