The [email protected] is getting a new live-action show in South Korea, and it was announced that it will be a drama. This new drama project has been tentatively called [email protected], and new details have been revealed for this new Korean version of [email protected]

In an interview with South Korean news site, Hankyung, a representative for the show, Son Il Hyeong, has stated that this Korean [email protected] is looking for 15 different idols, and the requirements are that they must be female, must be 16 – 26 years of age, and “must have talent in singing, dancing, and etc, and needs to have a decent level of talent in acting.” Foreign applicants must be “able to at least communicate and act in Korean.”

The representative has stated that they were surprised by the sheer number of international applicants for the roles. In [email protected], there are actually a few half-foreigners, the most famous one being half-Russian, Anastasia, from Cinderella Girls. He also stated that there are some auditions being held in Japan, the birthplace of [email protected] And since The [email protected] franchise is a global brand, he stated that they are aiming for a global broadcast of the K-drama.

Those who pass the screening will then move on to the first phase of public voting, which will be held from April 29  until May 4, 2016. There will then be another round of auditions, before the final auditions, which will be held in June. The chosen idols will then start a rigorous 3-month training period, with shooting planned to begin in September. The drama is targeted to premiere in the first half of 2017.

The characters from the games and the anime, including the original 765Pro idols and the Cinderella Girls, will not be a part of this South Korean project.
