Yokohama better brace itself, because the Pikachu are coming back! Last year, approximately 1,000 Pikachu descended upon Yokohama as they danced and paraded throughout the city. However, this year may have even more, as the organizers revealed that they are planning to bring 1,500 Pikachu into the city!
This year’s event is officially titled “Pikachu Dake janai Pikachu Tairyou Hassei-chuu!”, which means “Not Only Pikachu, but a Lot of Pikachu-chu!”. The title itself also indicates that there will be even more Pikachu this year.
This year will also have a Latino theme, as shown in the event’s visual (top image). The city will be hosting these electric mice from August 9 – 14, 2017. They will also end the event with a huge bang, as the Minato Mirai shopping area will host a huge party.
