Eromanga Sensei may be about two siblings unrelated by blood living alone together, but it’s also about light novels. The anime gives us a peek at the light novel industry itself, and in particular, the guys who are publishing Tsukasa Fushimi’s Eromanga Sensei light novels, Dengeki Bunko. And in the anime’s episode, when Elf Yamada talks about her goal of surpassing Dengeki Bunko light novels, a few characters popped up…

The scene featured Tatsuya from The Irregular at Magic High School, Holo from Spice and Wolf, and of course, Kirito from that little-known anime franchise, Sword Art Online. However, SAO and Accel World author, Reki Kawahara talked about the scene himself via his twitter page, @kunori. There, Kawahara said that they originally planned to have it more directly with some explicit name dropping. They dropped a lot of things, and Tsukasa Fushimi himself regretted that they didn’t include the comment “That damn Reki…he’s grown up a bit”. But then again, they still manages to sneak Kawahara into the anime, though a bit indirectly. If you look at Kirito’s shoulder, you could see Tin Writer, the character that Kawahara voiced in Accel World.

But those aren’t the only cameos in this particular episode. One certain lovable character from Fushimi’s OTHER light novel, OreImo, voiced by Kana Hanazawa, also made a cameo with her sisters. That’s right, Kuroneko was there too, getting interviewed on TV while wearing a yukata no less!

Admit it, you guys cheered when good’ol Ruri appeared back there!
