The Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens light novel series by author Chiaki Kisaki and illustrator Hako Ichiiro have gotten much critical acclaim back in Japan. Now, Media Works Bunko has announced in its official website that the crime series is also getting its very own TV anime adaptation.
The light novels is set in the underworld of Fukuoka, which has seemingly peaceful facade hides a very deadly Hakata-based underworld filled with assassins, torturers, informants, and all sorts of denizens. However, the city also has an urban legend regarding killers of professional killers…
This Media Works Bunko light novel has had plenty of accolades even before the anime was announced. It previously took first place 20th Dengeki Novel Awards, and even had a collaboration with a light novel series which seems to be cut as the same vein as Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, and that’s Ryohgo Narita’s Durarara!!. It also has its own manga adaptation by Kisara Akino.
They are launching the anime as part of Dengeki Bunko’s 20th anniversary celebrations. The manga currently has six volumes released in Japan, with the seventh volume being released this July 25th.
