The live-action Gintama movie which starred Shun Oguri as Gintoki Sakata has proven to be a resounding success. Yes folks, not all live-action adaptations are bad. And because the movie was such a success, it looks like they are giving us more live-action Gintama.
According to an early look at the next issue of Weekly Shounen Jump magazine, they will be announcing a sequel for the live-action movie adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi’s popular parody manga. However, they haven’t revealed much information about this new movie yet. The announcement also comes just in time for the first movie’s home video release for both Blu-ray and DVD. The release is scheduled for November 22, 2017.
And it seems to be a huge year for Gintama itself because it’s also getting a new PS4 game titled Gintama Rumble. It will be hitting Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand on the same day as Japan, which will be on January 18, 2017. This Southeast Asian edition of Gintama Rumble will feature Japanese audio with English texts. It will be available for the PS4 and PS Vita platforms.
