Yu Yu Hakusho fans (especially ones in the Philippines, where it’s called Ghost Fighter), rejoice, because Yoshihiro Togashi’s classic manga is getting a brand new anime project! During the Jump Festa 2018 event in Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, a banner at the Bandai Visual booth revealed the new anime project.
However, they didn’t reveal when this new anime project will happen, or what it’s format will be. In other words, we still don’t know if it’s a TV anime, OVA, ONA, or a new movie.
The manga follows 14-year-old delinquent Yusuke Urameshi, who dies after saving a child in a car accident. The Spirit World is surprised by his death and offers him a chance to come back as a “spirit detective” who is tasked with defeating demons. The manga inspired a TV anime, which became a classic. It was also very successful in the Philippines, where people know the series by the title, Ghost Fighter.
The manga recently celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. Expect Jump to reveal more details about this new anime soon.
