A lot of anime have already featured Singapore, however, a new and ongoing anime recently featured the country in much detail. Usually, we only get to see the Merlion or Changi Airport as an anime features one short scene or two in the country. However, ongoing Winter 2018 anime, A Place Further Than The Universe, also known as Sora Yori mo Toori Basho, took it a bit further. Many viewers are saying that the anime’s 6th episode featured the country in much detail like never before.

Not only did the episode feature the usual suspects like the Merlion, the Singapore Flyer, and Changi Airport, but also a few other landmarks. These include Ion Orchard, Orchard MRT Station, Orchard Road, Tangs Plaza, Marina Bay Sands, Wheelock Place, Esplanade Bridge (complete with an SBS Transit Bus), Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Gardens by the Bay, Orchard Hotel, and even the Maxwell Road hawker centre! The girls even had some durian and chicken rice!

A Place Further Than The Universe follows four girls as they journey to Antarctica. Each of these girls have their own reasons for going, but the most central one is Shirase, who is looking for her mother, an Antarctic explorer lost in the frozen continent.

As they finally begin their journey, their first stop is Singapore, which they spent an entire episode in. Their next stop is Australia, where they will finally board the exploration vessel to Antarctica. The Singapore episode has been widely praised by locals for its attention to detail, so good job MadHouse!
