As we all know, today is the 14th of February, which many know as Valentine’s Day. Today is also known in many other names, such as Vday, Ash Wednesday, and of course, Singles Appreciation Day. In Japan, Valentine’s Day is very popular, where girls scramble to give chocolates to the boy they like, as well as their friends.

In celebration of the occasion, recently held a poll asking which male anime character do they want to give chocolates to this Valentine’s Day. 456 people responded, but surprisingly, only 67% were female. The poll also featured plenty of ties, including a huge 9-way tie for 9th-17th place. And without further ado, here are the Top 10 (or Top 17 because of the ties):

9th-17th place (9-way tie) – Lelouch Lamperouge (Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion)

Hachiman Hikigaya (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU)

Osomatsu, Karamatsu, and Ichimatsu Matsuno (Mr. Osomatsu)

Nishikata-kun (Skilled Teaser Takagi)

Takashi Natsume (Natsume’s Book of Friends)

Schubert (ClassicaLoid)

Sougo Okita (Gintama)

6th-8th place (3-way tie) – Chuya Nakahara (Bungo Stray Dogs)

Osamu Dazai (Bungo Stray Dogs)

Kusou Saiki (The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.)

5th – Levi (Attack on Titan)

4th – Toshiro Hijikata (Gintama)

3rd – Kirito (Sword Art Online)

2nd – Gintoki Sakata (Gintama)

1st – Makoto Tachibana (Free!)

It looks like a lot of ladies (and maybe some gentlemen, after all, 43% of the voters were MALE) want to give chocolates to Makoto from Free!. The swimmer not only has a kind personality that most women want, but also some rock-hard abs.

Women also want funny guys, and that may be why they also want to give chocolates to Gintoki. The silver-haired samurai who likes breaking the 4th wall took 2nd place, ahead of SAO’s Kirito, who took 3rd.

So, which anime character do you want to give chocolates to for Valentine’s Day?
