Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama manga has proven that it can also shift well into live-action. And because it did so well, the manga is getting a second live-action movie tentatively titled Gintama 2 (Kari). Now, the staff has revealed three new visuals featuring Shun Oguri, Masaki Suda, and Kanna Hashimoto as Gintoki Sakata, Shinpachi Shimura, and Kagura respectively.
Previously, the staff also confirmed that actor Jiro Sato is returning to star in the movie, but didn’t reveal his new role. In the first movie, Hanpei Takechi, the perverted samurai. They also confirmed that director and screenwriter, Yuichi Fukuda is also returning to direct the movie. It will be premiering in Japan on August 17, 2018.
Previously, the first film featured Gintoki, Shinpachi, Kagura, and
Zura Katsura and Elizabeth, as well as Takasugi and Ogata. They also revealed the Shinsengumi members in costume as well. Shun Oguri plays Gintoki, while Masaki Suda plays Shinpachi Shimura and Kanna Hashimoto plays Kagura. Meanwhile, director Yuichi Fukuda is also making his return to direct the sequel movie.
The first film premiered in July of last year, and it earned 980 million yen in just its first four days, topping the Japanese box office.
