Sometimes, being in Weekly Shounen Jump is a fast track in a manga getting an anime. With titles like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Dragon Ball, and Jojo’s Bozarre Adventure, any manga featured in the magazine has a lot to live up to. And now, yet another Shounen Jump manga is getting an anime, and this time, it’s Koyoharu Gotouge’s Fantasy Manga “Kimetsu no Yaiba”. And it ain’t just any animation studio bringing it to life, it’s ufotable (Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works, God Eater).
Weekly Shounen Jump magazine itself announced the new anime, and also launched a new twitter page for it. However, aside from the announcement of the studio and the anime itself, they didn’t reveal any further details.
Here’s how Viz Media describes the manga:
In Taisho-era Japan, Tanjiro Kamado is a kindhearted boy who makes a living selling charcoal. But his peaceful
life is shattered when a demon slaughters his entire family. His little sister Nezuko is the only survivor, but she
has been transformed into a demon herself! Tanjiro sets out on a dangerous journey to find a way to return his
sister to normal and destroy the demon who ruined his life.
Learning to destroy demons won’t be easy, and Tanjiro barely knows where to start. The surprise appearance
of another boy named Giyu, who seems to know what’s going on, might provide some answers—but only if
Tanjiro can stop Giyu from killing his sister first!
