After some mixed reactions, with some hating it and some absolutely loving it, it looks like Netflix is doing a second live-action Death Note movie. According to entertainment news website The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the sequel is already in development. They also revealed that Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil and F.E.A.R. writer, Greg Russo, is writing the scripts.
THR also noted that Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos has said that the movie itself has “sizable” success. Director Adam Wingard previously said that they pitched the movie to be a series with “at least a two-film series, maybe three”. However, he then added that they wrote first movie to have an ending, as “sequels are never guaranteed.”
The first film featured Nat Wolff as Light Turner, Misa Amane’s American counterpart, Mia Sutton, played by Margaret Qualley, and of course, Ryuk, voiced by the one and only Willem Dafoe.
