Ladies and gentlemen, looks like we’re getting Hellboy to fight giant monsters in the upcoming Hollywood adaptation of Monster Hunter. And not only that, but Ong Bak star, Tony Jaa is as well! According to The Hollywood Reporter (THR), Jaa and Ron Perlman will be joining Ant-Man star, T.I. Harris, as well as the previously-revealed Milla Jovovich for the project.
In the movie, Jaa will play a character known as “The Hunter”, while Perlman will play the leader of “The Hunter’s” crew. Meanwhile, Jovovich will play a character named Artemis, while Harris will play the group’s sniper, Link. Constantin Film is producing the movie, which has a 60 million USD budget. Production and shooting will begin in October in South Africa.
As of now, the movie’s story is still unclear, but with the recent success of the Monster Hunter World game, expect them to try to get a story close to the game’s setting. As for Jaa, “The Ong Bak Guy” recently tweeted that he’s excited to join the cast and even revealed that he’s now in South Africa:
