Hollywood is making a live-action Mega Man movie, and Paranormal Activity’s director is directing it
Yes folks, Mega Man is getting a live-action Hollywood movie. In fact, it was Capcom, the company which created Mega Man (or Rockman in Japan) were the ones who officially announced the movie themselves. Its tentative title is MEGA MAN, and Japanese-American Heroes actor, Masi Oka, is producing it alongside Chernin Entertainment.
20th Century Fox will be distributing the movie, while Paranormal Activity 3 and 4’s Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are directing and writing the story. The Capcom announcement noted that it “aims to appeal to a diverse audience,” and also promises that it will be ” an adaptation that maintains the world of the Mega Man games, while incorporating the grand production and entertainment value that Hollywood movies are known for.”
In their press release, Capcom also stated that they remain “committed to increasing the brand value of its game content by maximizing the significant promotional effect of visual media”. However, they didn’t reveal any further details, such as when we will be expecting the movie, as well as who its cast members will be.
