The competition for Virtual YouTubers is fierce right now, with the market currently flooded with tons of new characters. However, it seems that Sword Art Online is trying to break into that market as well. And of all their characters, Asuna is arguably the most popular, and that is why they chose her to be a Virtual YouTuber.

She will be interacting with fans as the franchise’s virtual spokesperson via twitter. She will be interacting with them and making several announcements regarding events and SAO news. Seiyuu Haruka Tomatsu is providing voice clips for the virtual avatar, much like the anime. Meanwhile, the staff used Motion Graphics by Live2D to create Asuna’s movements.
Virtual Asuna can also respond to requests that ask her what to say, what to do, and even what to wear. But how to send her a request? Well, by adding #宣伝隊長アスナへリクエスト to your tweet, she can consider it. And because she’s trying to become a Virtual YouTuber, she also has her own video over at YouTube. However, these are region-locked to Japan only.
Hmmmm… I wonder how her new venture will go…
