Well, we can’t say we didn’t expect this to happen, given the fact that Japanese viewers tend to report violent or sexually-charged anime all the time. And once again, they reported another series to media watchdog, Broadcasting Ethics & Program Improvement Organization (BPO). And yes, it’s the one that many of us expected that will get reported, and that is Goblin Slayer.
The Japanese viewer who reported the fantasy series complained that the anime’s rape scenes, as well as violence, was a bad influence on the youth. But the good news is that the complaint never really went through. This is because BPO’s own seven-member committee has rejected the complaint. This is mainly because they found that what Goblin Slayer showed was within the “acceptable” parameters for a late night TV show. In other words, kids are already asleep whenever Goblin Slayer airs so its fine.
Goblin Slayer’s first episode depicted sexual violence (rape) and gore. This was the main reason somebody reported the anime.
BPO has been getting complaints about anime for years now. Several examples include Seven Mortal Sins and Eromanga Sensei, Gintama, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans, Scum’s Wish, and of course, Shimoneta.
