As many of us know by now, Gintama has ended its run over at Weekly Shounen Jump magazine. However, what many don’t know is that they’re actually transferring to Jump Giga magazine. There, Sorachi will finally end Gintama’s long, 4th Wall-breaking run. And now, the manga has finally started that final run with a 52-page chapter, which also includes a color page.
The manga ended its run in Shounen Jump last 15th September, but it turns out that they were just trolling in typical Gintama fashion. Instead, they announced that it will continue “for a little while longer” in Jump Giga. There, its new magazine will continue it with three consecutive issues. They will also feature the manga in its covers for this “final run”.
The manga entered the current Silver Soul Arc, which is also its final arc, back in 2016. Sorachi first made the announcement in 2016 as well, and it sent shock waves to the fandom. Of course, many people thought he was trolling fans again, but this new announcement confirms he wasn’t.
The comedy manga has been known to break the 4th wall and parody several other anime and mangas, and has gotten a surprisingly large female fan following. The manga has won plenty of awards, and has also received plenty of anime adaptations, as well as an anime film and two live-action films.
