SSSS.Gridman has proven to be one of 2018’s most popular anime. However, the series has now ended with its 12th and final episode. And during that episode, they aired a special collaboration video with Tsuburaya’s other iconic gigantic kaijuu-fighting hero, Ultraman.

The video is somewhat of a passing-of-the-torch from Gridman to Ultraman, who will be having his own Netflix-exclusive anime. It features the voices of Hukaru Midorikawa as Gridman, and Ryohei Kimura as Ultraman.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Appleseed’s Shinji Aramaki will be co-directing the new Ultraman anime. Production I.G. will be animating the new Netflix anime, with the same team behind the upcoming Ghost in The Shell SAC_2045 anime working on the project. It will adapt Eiichi Shimizu (story) and Tomohiro Shimoguchi (arts)’s manga.

As for its release, Netflix will begin streaming it worldwide on April 1, 2019. Much like SSSS.Gridman, Tsuburaya will be supervising the anime’s production.
