Japan wins GunPla Builders World Cup 2018 championship while Philippines takes second, Indonesia wins Junior Category
Bandai has recently held the finals for their GunPla Builders World Cup 2018 (GBWC) over in Tokyo, Japan. And after two years, Japan has won it again. Yusuke Sato’s “GUNDAM EXIA RⅡ-fetal movement-” took first place in the annual global competition to crown the world’s best GunPla modeler. He beat out entrants from Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, the United States, Thailand, France, Italy, and others.
After winning the big one last year, the Philippines had to settle for second place this year. JAMES MARC R. QUINSAAT’s “EVERY THING STARTS WITH A PROTO TYPE” took the runner-up spot, ahead for third place Vichayuth Eiam-Ong (Thailand) and his “WE ARE GUNDAM” entry.
As for the Junior Category, Mark Alexander Ierwanto’s “Build Divers Fantasy” won the top prize. Meanwhile, Taiwan’s WU CHIH EN’s “Once Again” took second. As for third place in the Junior Category, Nguyễn Hoàng Long from Vietnam won it with his entry, “The White Golem”.
They also handed out special awards as well. Hong Kong’s Manson Ng took home the Gundam base special prize for his entry, “The Origin of Char,” while Canada’s Ryan Lau took another special prize for his entry, “Kshatriya Besserung 2.0 ‘Preemptive Strike'”. Third place winner “WE ARE GUNDAM” also win a special prize.
