Jasmine Gyuh’s Back Street Girls manga is getting a live-action movie adaptation. And now, the staff have revealed a new trailer, teasing all the Yakuza Idol goodness…
Aside from the new trailer, they also revealed a new poster visual. It features the idols/yakuza’s male and female versions:
The movie will star Jin Shirasu, Reiya Masaki, Masato Hanazawa, Natsumi Okamoto, Ruka Matsuda, Akane Sakanoue, Tetsuya Sugaya, Nana Asakawa, Hitoshi Ozawa, Dori Sakurada, Ren Osugi, and Kouichi Iwaki. Keinosuke Hara is directing the movie, with Shouichirou Masumoto and Hidehiro Itou writing the scripts. Here’s how Kodansha describes the movie’s story:
Tough gangland retribution takes a disturbingly bright, shiny turn in this insanely guilty pleasure about 3 yakuzas who, as repayment for their failures, must undergo major surgery and become … a hot female idol trio! So what happens when they become the next big pop sensation!?
The movie adaptation will premiere on February 8, 2019.
